Oban April 2017

The trip to Oban was a two day trip, travelling up on Friday, with diving Saturday and Sunday.Divers to make their own way to Oban and sorted out their own accommodation, we all stayed at the Oban Caravan & Camping Park on Gallanach Road, Oban.The Tides on Saturday were Low Water 10.36AM & High Water 16.34PM And Sunday Low Water 11.13AM & High Water 17.03PM. The Weather was good SSW 10mph, we assembled the small Rib the night before, and did the dive brief over a few beers.

Award

The Furness Diving Club has recived an award from The British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) For contributing to British diving in 2013. The club has been a member of BSAC since 1958 and has been awarded the 3rd most new sports divers in 2013. Thanks go to all Instructors and the members who qualified as Sports Divers. Well done Furness Diving Club.

A Long time ago!!

A long time ago in the Furness Diving Club, back then known as the Furness Sub Aqua Club.

A group of hardy divers, a few still are members today. Dirk Hadwin being the longest serving member, Comming in close behind Him Rob Hughes.

Both being honorary members now.

Grant Recieved

A grant has just been recived from Cumbria Community Foundation.

 

£1000 was presented to the Furness Diving Club at the march meeting.

The £1000 is to go towards equipment to teach people to dive.

Dolphin 'asks diver for help'

An underwater camera has captured the moment a dolphin that became entangled in a fishing line was freed by a diver in Hawaii.


Martina Wing, who filmed the footage, said that the dolphin seemed to "communicate" with the diver to ask for help.
